Recent Research

I completed a PhD thesis at Georgia Tech on topics related to general computer networking, network security, human computer interaction and information visualization.

I had initially spent a lot of time on child trafficking work as it relates to the Internet and mobile technology.

Based on what I researched and from talking to someone at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the biggest issues are finding location/source based on real time or historical data such as with cell phones, other mobile devices and the use of wifi hot spots.  Perpetrators often use these devices to advertise and communicate with customers, because they are temporary locations, and harder to track them down.

I started some work this summer with a project called BrailleTouch in a department at the Graphics, Visualization & Usability Center (GVU) in Georgia Tech’s Computer Science, which is running applications for the iPhone and iPad. They are currently undergoing user studies. They results will be collected and analyzed. We have submitted to a contest called Touch of Genius Prize for Innovation by the National Braille Program.
